Dental Implants

Tooth replacement with the appearance and strength of the original tooth

Bridges and dentures were once the main restorative option for patients with missing teeth, but implant dentistry has transformed patient choice. The best long-term solution to tooth loss, dental implants provide aesthetics and performance comparable with a healthy natural tooth.

Here at HRS Dental Care our experienced dentists have been successfully placing implants for people throughout Gloucestershire for many years. We would be delighted to discuss the advantages of this advanced treatment with you. These benefits include:

Greater security – with dental implants, problems long associated with loose dentures simply do not apply. This means no sore gums, embarrassing slips or bone loss. Even traditional bridges can often slip and become loose after time, but dental implants ensure that replacement teeth are held firmly in place to mimic the behaviour and appearance of natural teeth.

Heightened bone regeneration – when a tooth is lost and left unfilled, the bone surrounding the missing tooth begins to degenerate. But the presence of the implant actually stimulates the bone as if a natural tooth was still in place.

No need to remove healthy tissue – attaching a crown usually involves shaving down enamel and cementing the crown in place. This isn’t necessary to place dental implants.

More natural appearance – there’s no need for ugly clasps or the obvious discrepancy between your gums and a denture plate. Implanted restorations are made to match the colour and shape of your natural teeth.

Dental implants - some common questions

Who is a suitable candidate for dental implants?

Most people can have dental implants as long as they have a fully matured jawbone. Any problems such as gum disease and tooth decay would need to be addressed first. Also, if you were found to be suffering from bone loss or lowered bone density bone grafts may be needed to prepare you for treatment.

How long can I expect my dental implant to last?

Implants have been successfully used for the replacement of teeth for over 40 years and if well maintained can last a lifetime.

What is the cost of dental implants?

The cost of your dental implant treatment will depend on the number of teeth you need replacing, the condition of your jawbone and other factors. We’ll be happy to discuss costs with you.
